Message to the Conventual Franciscans of Sabou
Pope Francis encouraged the work of the Medical Center of the Minor Conventual Friars for the poorest of the poor in Sabou, Burkina Faso, during a congress held at the Seraphicum College (College of St. Bonaventure) in Rome.
In a message reported on March 5, 2018 by Vatican News in Italian he urges to “continue the generous work of spreading the Gospel and the constant support to the Church in Burkina Faso, always favoring the poor and working in the geographical and existential peripheries with the precious commitment of evangelization and human promotion.”
The Pope entrusts the Virgin Mary, Queen of the Missions, and St. Maximilian Kolbe with the fruitfulness of the Order’s missionary service and sends his apostolic blessing. Among the participants in the initiative: Nicolas Meda, Minister of Health of Burkina Faso, who will speak.
The St. Maximilian Kolbe Medical Center was opened in 2003. It offers free health services to more than 110,000 inhabitants: emergency, general medicine, maternity, pediatrics and soon radiology and surgery.
